Ashley Pi is a wife and SAHM to four kids under the age of four. She became a licensed foster mom five years ago and has adopted four toddlers and helped three reunify with their families. After seeing the needs of all involved in the system, she has been creating and partnering with organizations in her city to help support kids in care, former foster youth, adoptees, biological parents, social workers, and foster/ adoptive/ and kinship families.
My conversation with Ashley is a vulnerable, beautiful, and heartfelt look into a tender motherhood story: becoming a foster parent and then an adoptive mom. I loved how she continues to honor her kids' "tummy mommies" and birth families and how she hold their stories in her hands and her heart.
We discuss trauma, grief, healing, hope, the fear of leaning into joy, and how, so often, we hold polarizing emotions in our hearts as mothers, no matter how our motherhood story began.
