The Motherhood Metamorphosis
They say that when a baby is born, so is a mother. But while you are there to help your baby grow into the person he or she is meant to be, who is there to help you? Many women feel lost and alone when they become mothers, wondering “who AM I now?”
Sometimes it feels like transformation from woman to mother is as radical as a caterpillar’s transformation into a butterfly.
Did you know that inside the chrysalis, the caterpillar literally turns into goop before it rearranges itself into a butterfly? This podcast is about the goop, what soul transformation looks like as you transition from being a woman to a mom.
Your baby’s growth matters. But yours does too. You’re not alone. I’m your host, Brittany Meng.
Welcome to the Motherhood Metamorphosis.

Dr. Becky Clark serves as the Director of Student Support at a K-12 Christian School in Middle Tennessee. Additionally, she serves as an Assistant Professor for Liberty University Online and the Chair of the Williamson County Literacy Association (a local chapter of the Literacy Association of Tennessee). She is mom to three, 2 sons and one daughter.
Our conversation in this episode focuses on Becky's daughter, Noel, who was diagnosed with leukemia when she was three years old. Becky recounts those difficult years of treatment and how battling cancer, now in remission, has continued to affect Noel's life today, at age 12.
Becky shares the joys, anxieties, and heartache she experienced as a mom and how she and Noel have leaned into hope and healing through their faith and community. She and Noel now volunteer with Make a Wish, helping other children who are battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases to make their dreams come true.
This episode is heartfelt, emotional, hopeful, tender, and is a beautiful arch of storytelling.
