The Motherhood Metamorphosis
They say that when a baby is born, so is a mother. But while you are there to help your baby grow into the person he or she is meant to be, who is there to help you? Many women feel lost and alone when they become mothers, wondering “who AM I now?”
Sometimes it feels like transformation from woman to mother is as radical as a caterpillar’s transformation into a butterfly.
Did you know that inside the chrysalis, the caterpillar literally turns into goop before it rearranges itself into a butterfly? This podcast is about the goop, what soul transformation looks like as you transition from being a woman to a mom.
Your baby’s growth matters. But yours does too. You’re not alone. I’m your host, Brittany Meng.

Susie Maurer: The challenges and gifts of mothering while living overseas

Susie Maurer is a dreamer by spirit, a writer by instinct, and a big sister by habit. She currently lives in Colorado with her favorite people in the world.
Susie and I reminisce about the challenges and surprising gifts we experienced while living overseas in England while parenting young children. We share the really tough stuff that made us cry and how we found inner strength to keep growing as women and moms.
We also share our favorite things about living in a new culture, how we navigated schools systems, and the things we loved about living in England. Also, we share how the DRIVING nearly did us in--and hilarious stories about how we thought we were going to die in a roundabout!
My favorite part of our conversation is how we learned to navigate motherhood and growth while feeling completely out of our element and being brave in the face of cultural and personal challenges.
